an unforgettable summer experience for children and teens with diabetes

Camp Carolina Trails is a one week summer camp designed especially for boys and girls with diabetes. Campers are housed in well-maintained cabins with plenty of adult supervision, including a complete medical staff, nutrition specials, and camp counselors who also have diabetes.

Nestled on a quiet hillside at the foot of Sauratown Mountain, Camp Carolina Trails is held at YMCA Camp Hanes on 400 acres next to Hanging Rock State Park, the perfect setting for a week of adventure, education, and friendship. Sports and activities such as swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, and canoing combined with diabetes education and support give children with diabetes the tools they need to live happy, healthy, and balanced lives. In cases of financial need, special arrangements may be considered for the camp fee, which has historically been around $700.

Registration is now open for our 2014 session, which will be held from June 15th through June 21st.

About the American Diabetes Association’s camp program

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is proud to be the leading provider of diabetes camps and serve as a financial supporter for camps across the country. Through these efforts, the ADA serves more than 10,000 children with diabetes each year.

The mission of the ADA is to prevent and cure diabetes, and to improve the lives of all people affected by diabetes. ADA Diabetes Camps fulfill a big part of our mission by leaving a long-term, positive impact on children’s lives and families.
